PC Party's Platform Costing

EDMONTON: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) commended the PC Party for responding to the CTF request to provide a detailed costing of all spending promises made during this provincial election.

The CTF made the request on February 13th in a letter to each party leader, while also releasing a checklist of each party's promise and whether it had been costed or not. The CTF has continued to update each party's spending promises regularly thought out the campaign on their website (www.taxpayer.com), and will be updating the PC Party list tomorrow.

"We're very pleased the PC Party responded to our costing request," declared CTF-Alberta director Scott Hennig.

"Voters should be rightfully sceptical of any promises made by politicians when there's no price tag attached," continued Hennig. "Politicians can't promise anything to voters that those same voters won't have to pay for."

"The Alberta NDP had been the most diligent so-far in this campaign at costing out their promises, but now the PC Party has also stepped-up," stated Hennig.

"With just over a week left in this campaign, we're still hopeful the Alberta Liberals and the Wildrose Alliance will similarly provide the price-tag of their spending promises," concluded Hennig.

By the CTF's count, the Alberta Liberals still have 38 un-costed promises, while all 5 spending promised by the Wildrose Alliance remain un-costed.
